As part of the dissertation process, I have to defend my research.
This is called “the defense.” It entails giving a presentation discussing my research process and findings as a researcher would at an academic conference. Then, members of my committee and anyone else who decides to attend can ask me questions.
Following the presentation, my committee members will deliberate. They will discuss what changes I need to make to the dissertation itself, which is essentially a book. They will also discuss if the work I’ve done is satisfactory enough to earn my degree. If they think it is, I will earn my Ph.D.
My dissertation defense is scheduled for 1 p.m. CDT on April 6, 2023. It will be conducted via Zoom.
